Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the SI-30 Battery Warranty

What is covered?

SI-30 Battery warranty is a 30-year warranty covering parts and labor for standalone and retrofit battery systems. SI-30 Battery warranty includes one battery replacement when capacity drops below 50% after the manufacturer warranty period ends.

For integrated battery/inverter technologies where the battery and inverter cannot be serviced/replaced separately from one another (i.e. Tesla PW3), SI-30 Battery warranty also covers the cost of replacing the inverter.

What is excluded?

Not included:

  • Fire, theft, hail, and Acts of God
  • Liability and property damage during installation
  • Installation-related damage to home
  • Production and performance guarantees
  • Workmanship, wiring, and improper installation
  • Wi-Fi connection kits, cellular connection kits, or other add-on functionality dongles used for communication connectivity. Enphase Envoys are covered for 5 years from the date of installation.
  • Non-AVL products
Full list of exclusions can be found here: www.solarinsure.com/warranties
How does the coverage work with the manufacturer's warranty?
Coverage encompasses both the time the manufacturer warranty is active and after the manufacturer warranty expiration. During the manufacturer warranty period, if there is an issue that would require the battery to be replaced, the manufacturer warranty covers the parts and SI-30 Battery warranty covers the labor cost. After the manufacturer warranty expires, SI-30 Battery warranty covers parts and labor. When a battery is replaced, the new unit comes with a fresh manufacturer warranty that covers parts, and Solar Insure continues to cover labor.
How are hybrid inverter/battery technologies covered?
  • With technologies like PW3, where inverter and battery components cannot be replaced independently, the SI-30 Battery warranty covers replacement of the entire unit.
  • SI-30 Battery warranty includes one replacement for the battery/inverter unit
Do you match the solar panel being replaced?
We make every effort to match the original part make and model. If the panel manufacturer is no longer in business, we will use a replacement that is similar to class, look, and size.
Can warranty ownership be transferred?
The warranty is transferable between ownership of original installation site only. The warranty is registered to the address rather than the homeowner’s name which allows it to follow current ownership regardless of the sale.
