A Commitment to Excellent Customer Experiences
Hear directly from Jeremy Carlock, President of Got Watts?:
1. What does good customer service mean to you in this industry?
Good customer service means taking ownership—especially when something doesn’t go as planned. At Got Watts?, one of our core values is “Own It: Pride in every step, accountability in every action.” For us, that commitment doesn’t end when the system is installed. It means communicating clearly, standing behind our work, and continuing to answer questions and support customers years after installation. Solar is a long-term investment, and we believe the customer relationship should be long-term as well.
2. What’s unique about installing solar in your market/state? What problems are homeowners looking to solve, and how do you help customers solve those problems?
California homeowners face some of the highest and fastest-rising utility rates in the country, along with complicated solar, battery, permitting, and utility requirements. Customers are not simply looking to install solar panels—they’re trying to gain greater control over their energy costs while making sense of an increasingly complex market.
Our role is to simplify that process. We take the time to understand each homeowner’s energy usage, goals, and future plans, then design a solar and battery solution that makes sense for their home. This reflects another of our core values, “Think It | 1:3:1,” which means focusing on the problem, evaluating the possible outcomes, and recommending the right solution. We then “Build It” with craftsmanship and quality at every step.
3. What drove you to start working with Solar Insure? What impact has it had on your business?
Solar Insure bridges an important gap between manufacturer warranties and the long-term responsibilities placed on solar installers. Manufacturers may replace a covered component, but they often provide limited labor reimbursement—or none at all. That leaves the installer responsible for years of service costs after receiving revenue from the project only once.
As an installer’s fleet of systems ages, those obligations can become a significant financial liability and can threaten the long-term health of the company. I chose to work with Solar Insure because it provides meaningful long-term protection for our homeowners while helping ensure Got Watts? remains financially strong and available to serve them for many years to come.
Solar Insure transforms an aging fleet of systems from a potential liability into an asset. It gives homeowners greater confidence in their investment, helps us fulfill our long-term service commitment, and supports a more sustainable business model for everyone involved.
