SunCommon Reviews and Customer Experience
SunCommon customers consistently highlight clear, step-by-step communication from the first conversation through installation. Reviewers describe the on-site crews as professional, friendly, and efficient, with installations that went off without a hitch, including more involved work like trenching, battery installation, and canopy builds.
Many customers also return for a second project, adding batteries, additional panels, or EV chargers to an existing system. Reviewers often point to SunCommon’s local roots in Vermont as a reason they chose the company, alongside a process they describe as simple and low-stress.

A Commitment to Excellent Customer Experiences
Hear directly from Julia Andrews, Communications Manager of SunCommon:
1. What does good customer service mean to you in this industry?
At SunCommon, we aim to provide an excellent experience from our very first interaction through the installation and beyond. Our solar advisors work with our customers to find the best renewable energy solutions to achieve their goals, and then work internally with the project team to ensure that they are cared for every step of the way.
Our installation crews are universally loved by our customers because they treat each property as if it were their own. They work as efficiently as possible and will always pause to answer questions and make sure homeowners know exactly what to expect.
Post-install, when questions or issues arise, our customer service team is there to help. Whether it’s troubleshooting over the phone or scheduling a service call, this knowledgeable crew is ready to handle a wide variety of questions and concerns. And of course, having Solar Insure as our warranty partner gives our customers peace of mind that if issues arise with their system, they’re covered.
2. What’s unique about installing solar in your market/state? What problems are homeowners looking to solve, and how do you help customers solve those problems?
Vermonters value independence, and they want to be good stewards of the environment. The farmers who are investing in clean water solutions and the homeowner who installs solar are all part of the same Vermont ethos when it comes to doing the right thing for the planet.
Vermont is a four-season state, so weather can be a challenge. People are sometimes surprised to learn that we work installing solar and storage all year round (sometimes trading the slippery roofs for a day on the slopes in the winter). Of course with the benefit of net-metering programs, we can design solar projects that will generate enough during the warm, sunny months to carry homeowners through the winter days that are snowy and shorter.
Also, in Vermont we are nature lovers, and that means trees- lots of trees. We love trees too but they can sometimes shade a roof and hamper solar generation. We regularly work with homeowners to assess the best siting for solar while minimizing the amount of trees that might need to be cut.
3. What drove you to start working with Solar Insure? What impact has it had on your business?
Solar Insure is a differentiator for SunCommon. When it comes to service, folks know that we stand behind our work – but having Solar Insure backing us is a vote of confidence in the quality of our installs and designs. We know that customers who need service are sometimes disappointed that manufacturer warranties only cover materials. It’s a real game-changer to be able to tell customers that even labor is covered with Solar Insure! They know they can get their dream solar project done and rest assured that it will continue to be worry-free for decades.
